The Big Takeover (Issue No.58)

   Why this band is not better known... The narcotic pacing of the Lost Patrols slightly spaghetti western-themed guitars (reverbed-drenched!) are mesmerizing to say the very least. Danielle Kimak Stauss beguiling vocals are only half the trip. The intertwined guitar work of Michael Williams and Stephen Masucci fit these vocals like a clown fish fits an anemone. Its tough to pinpoint references, for Lost Patrol do have trace sounds of so, so many, yet this is completely their own thing. If Scenic had Lisa Germano or Hope Sandoval vocalize those soundscapes, youd be closer to approximating this unbelievably lush dreamworld. At 11 tracks long (and how they bleed into one another!), this feels like one suite of hazy siren-voiced guitar-hypnotica.
