THE LOST PATROL
This band from the Garden State blend the twang of a
Ennio Morricone soundtrack with the dark pop sensibilities of The Motels.
Singer Danielle Kimak Stauss in fact recalls that band's Martha Davis,
as well as punkier sorts like Siouxsie Sioux and The Cramps' Lux Interior,
though her own group is considerably less frantic than theirs. The track
"All Around" for example, is what's known in music-critic speak
as a "soundscape" - layered acoustic guitars combined with a
pulsating wash of sound, and a twangy lead line, which all build up for
cinematic effect.
